12 Arguments Evolutionists Should Avoid

Article from Answers in Genesis

For years, we’ve maintained a list of arguments creationists should avoid. There are enough good arguments for biblical accuracy and a young earth that dubious claims can safely be discarded. Now we want to address a similar topic: arguments evolutionists should avoid. These worn-out tropes have not only passed their expiration date, but they never should have been made to begin with.

Argument 1 Evolution is a fact
When our core beliefs are attacked, it’s often easy for humans to retreat to statements such as this: “My belief is a fact, and yours is wrong.” That’s exactly why we cannot trust mere human understanding to explain the unobservable past—emotion and pride get in the way. Evolution is not a fact, no matter how many times evolutionists say it is. It’s a framework built on assumptions about the past—assumptions that will never have direct, first-hand, observational proof.

Argument 2 Only the uneducated reject evolution
Besides the arrogance of such statements, this argument has no footing and should be cast off. Mainly, those who make this claim usually define “educated people” as those who accept evolution. Anyone who disagrees fails the test, no matter what their background (e.g., if we follow this ideology, Isaac Newton must have been uneducated). There are many lists of well-educated scholars who look to the Bible for answers (here’s one)—and we could point out Darwin’s own deficit of formal education (he earned a bachelor’s in theology). But the bigger issue is that education—or lack—does not guarantee the validity of a person’s position.

Argument 3 Overwhelming evidence in all fields of science supports evolution
The irony, of course, is that for centuries prior to Darwin’s publication of On the Origin of Species, the majority of scientists found the opposite to be true: the “evidence” supported creation. What changed? Not the evidence. Rather, the starting point changed (i.e., moving from the Bible, God’s Word, to humanism, man’s word). Creationists continue to see everything in light of God’s Word and all evidence as supporting the biblical account. In reality, there is no “neutral” starting point; everyone—whether they acknowledge it or not—interprets the “facts” according to a particular way of thinking (i.e., worldview).

The Ultimate Proof of Creation - Brian Catalucci, Creation Seminar 4 of 5

)

http://answersingenesis.org | This is an argument for creation that is powerful, conclusive, and has no true rebuttal. As such, it is an irrefutable argument-an "ultimate proof" of the Christian worldview biblical creation.

#CreationDebate: Eric Hovind (#Christian) vs Bernie Dehler (#atheist) #Evidence & #Morality

On Thur. Nov. 15, 2011, Eric Hovind, President of Creation Today, (Christian, Young Earth Creationist) & Bernie Dehler (atheist, former evangelical Christian) held a debate at Portland State University, sponsored by one of the university's Christian groups. There were two main topics: evidence and morality.

The session on "evidence" dealt with questions about the "unknowns" in science, especially regarding origins. How did the universe begin to exist? How did biological life arise from non-life. If scientists can't answer these questions, does it logically follow that God did these things by miracle?

Regarding morality, Hovind presented the idea that morality seems to exist in the world as moral law, and asked "who created these laws, if not God? How could mindless nature create moral laws?" Dehler's take was that morality can largely be reasoned-out using the rubric of consequentialism, reciprocity, and consideration of individual freedom. Hovind wiped the floor with this guy.

Dehler had a hand-out for the audience, showing his main points and also giving links for further suggested research. Click here to see his handout.

Is Atheism Scientific? - Dr. Arthur Jones

http://edinburghcreationgroup.org | Science is founded on the assumption that the universe obeys a set of understandable, well ordered rules. It is logical to assume that a universe created by an intelligent mind will have intelligible laws governing it throughout. But does it follow that a universe born out of chaos should be governed by an consistent set of intelligible rules? Richard Dawkins has said that faith in a creator is incompatible with science, because its assumptions cannot be tested. However can the assumptions of Atheism be tested? i.e. that the logical laws that govern the universe should be self-existent.

Dr. Jones is a science and education consultant. He has a B.S. (Hons) from the University of Birmingham in biology; an M.Ed. from Bristol University and a Ph.D. in biology from the University of Birmingham. Dr. Jones has taught science and religion courses at London and Bristol Universities. He presently works for the Christian Schools Trust as their research consultant for curriculum development. He is a member of the Institute of Biology, London.

Name: Dr. Jason Lisle
Title: Director of Research
Specialty: Physics, Astronomy, Astrophysics, Apologetics
As Director of Research, Dr. Lisle leads ICR’s gifted team of scientists who continue to investigate and demonstrate the evidence for creation. He graduated summa cum laude from Ohio Wesleyan University where he double-majored in physics and astronomy and minored in mathematics. He earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in astrophysics at the University of Colorado. Dr. Lisle specialized in solar astrophysics and has made a number of scientific discoveries regarding the solar photosphere and has contributed to the field of general relativity. Since completion of his research at the University of Colorado, Dr. Lisle began working in full-time apologetics ministry, focusing on the defense of Genesis. Dr. Lisle was instrumental in developing the planetarium at the Creation Museum in Kentucky, writing and directing popular planetarium shows including “The Created Cosmos.” Dr. Lisle speaks on topics relating to science and the defense of the Christian faith using logic and correct reasoning; he has authored numerous articles and books demonstrating that biblical creation is the only logical possibility for origins.

Evolution and Logical Fallacies - Dr. Jason Lisle

On Friday, April 10th, 2009 RMCF welcomed Dr. Jason Lisle from Answers in Genesis. Jason has been a long time member of Rocky Mountain Creation Fellowship and spoke there while he was pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

Dr. Jason Lisle gives viewers a fast paced course on logic. In addition to reviewing numerous logical fallacies, Dr. Lisle gives examples of how evolutionists often use fallacious arguments in arguing for their position. Learning to recognize these fallacies provides a whole new opportunity for defending the Christian faith and arguing for the truth of creation.

Please visit Rocky Mountain Creation Fellowship's website at http://YoungEarth.Org for more videos from creationist speakers and scientists and info on upcoming speakers and events.

PROVING GOD with Eric Hovind & Sye TenBruggencate

Part 1 - "Foundations"

Many Christians try to prove God exists when the truth is our ultimate authority tells us every one already knows God exists!

The debate has raged for centuries—is there a God? If so, which God? Unbelievers and believers, atheists and theists, evolutionists and creationists, all compile evidence to support their views. But is there a way to settle this discussion once and for all? Check out this first episode in a series to find out how Christians should ultimately defend their faith. There is a proof so fundamental, yet so powerful, that the argument over God becomes a self-evident truth.

Sye uses a powerful form of argument called presuppositional apologetics.

Part 2 - "Logic"

The debate has raged for centuries—is there a God? If so, which God? Unbelievers and believers, atheists and theists, evolutionists and creationists, all compile evidence to support their views. But is there a way to settle this discussion once and for all? Check out this second episode in a series to find out how logic is only accounted for through the God of the Bible.

Part 3 - "Science"

In the third of four parts, Eric and Sye show how the Truth of Scripture is the foundation upon which true science rests.

The debate has raged for centuries—is there a God? If so, which God? Unbelievers and believers, atheists and theists, evolutionists and creationists, all compile evidence to support their views. But is there a way to settle this discussion once and for all? Check out this third episode in a series to find out how the fundamentals of science are actually borrowed from Christianity.

Part 4 - "Morality"

In this last of four episodes, Sye and Eric discuss morality and how the nature of ethics presuppose an Omniscient and Almighty God.

The debate has raged for centuries—is there a God? If so, which God? Unbelievers and believers, atheists and theists, evolutionists and creationists, all compile evidence to support their views. But is there a way to settle this discussion once and for all? Check out this fourth episode in a series to find out how the fundamentals of morality are actually borrowed from Christianity.
