What Darwin Didn't Know - Dr. Robert Carter
Seminar by Dr. Robert Carter
September 18, 2014
Cedar Park Christian School - Mountlake Terrace, WA.
Description:
Dr. Carter shares historical insight into Darwin’s past and the ideas that helped formulate the most widely embraced theory in science. Do Darwin’s theories on origins still stand up in today’s scientific world? If he were alive today, what would he think of the currently accepted evidence for his theory? In light of modern science, would he dare to invent an evolutionary theory of origins if he were still around now? Come find out What Darwin Didn’t Know.
About the Speaker:
Dr Carter was converted to Christ at an early age, but did not know what to do with the theory of evolution. He always knew what he wanted to believe, but had no way to express what he was thinking and no evidence to support his views. In his freshman year of college, he was exposed to the information for creation for the first time and soon after adopted it as his modus operandi. He says he felt a tremendous joy when he realized his science and his religion were no longer at odds. This joy (and, he says, Creation magazine and the Journal of Creation) enabled him to get through the in-depth evolutionary training of his undergraduate and graduate programs with his faith intact.
He obtained a BS in Applied Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1992. He then spent four years teaching high school biology, chemistry, physics and electronics before going to the University of Miami to obtain his PhD in Marine Biology. He successfully completed this program in 2003 with a dissertation on “Cnidarian Fluorescent Proteins.” While in Miami, he studied the genetics of pigmentation in corals and other invertebrates, designed and built an aquaculture facility for Caribbean corals, performed well over 500 SCUBA dives, many of them at night, and licensed a spin-off product of his research (a patented fluorescent protein) to a biotech company. See longer version of bio.
He is currently a senior scientist and speaker for Creation Ministries International-USA in Atlanta, Georgia, where he lives with his wife, Leanne, and children and is currently researching human genetics and other issues related to biblical creation.

Fossils: History in Contention - Chris Ashcraft
Seminar by Chris Ashcraft M.S., M.Ed., MTMS
Seattle Creation Conference, September 2013

Seattle Creation Conference, September 2013
Woodin Valley Baptist Church, Bothell WA.
Secular geologists have rejected Biblical history and assert that there has been no global flood as described in Genesis. But vast quantities of fossils and sedimentary rock provide a monumental testimony to this historical event and God's recent judgment. Is the worldview of these geologists causing them to "deliberately ignore that the world was deluged with water and perished" (2 Peter 3:3-6)?
This presentation provides the Biblical answer to the fossil record and an encouragement for Christians to trust in the Bible as authoritative on early Earth history. Numerous examples of fossils are provided that defy conventional explanation and interpretation in support of the theory of evolution. When examined, we can easily see that the fossils have been misinterpreted by naturalistic scientists and are much more consistent with catastrophic activity and a young Earth.
About the Speaker:
Chris Ashcraft is a Christian educator, creation scientist, and speaker employed as high school science teacher at Cedar Park Christian Schools where he provides instruction in Biology, Chemistry, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Life Science.
Formerly, Chris was a research technician, specialized in plant tissue culture, and genetic transformation technology. He served as a research technician at the Cotton Fiber Production Laboratory at Texas Tech University, he then provided technical support at the Plant Transformation Facility at Oklahoma State University, and lastly was employed as the Plant Transformation Specialist for EDEN Bioscience in Bothell Washington .
He obtained a Bachelor of Science in biology from Wayland Baptist University in 1989, a Master of Science in biology from Texas Tech University in 1996, a Master of Education from the University of Washington in 2008, and a Master is Teaching Math and Science from Seattle Pacific University in 2012.
Chris moved from research science into the teaching profession to serve God in Christian education. His decision was motivated by the impact that secular science is having on people of faith. Today, close to 50% of Christian students lose their belief in God while attending secular schools. This tendency could be lessened if the Church was better equipped to defend the authority of Biblical teachings (1 Peter 3:15). To be prepared for these challenges, it is important that Churches provide regular educational programs on creation and other Bible apologetics.

Description:
If the world is truly billions of years old, we would expect to
see this in the geologic record - the rocks, minerals and fossils.
Secular geologists tell us emphatically that the earth is billions
of years old, having been sculpted by slow and gradual geologic
processes, punctuated by brief, local catastrophes. But is this view
based on scientific facts or a philosophy framed by biases? Come
take a journey with us as we unravel this history and discover just
how accurately the Book of Genesis explains the geology of the
earth. We will look at 1) how the rocks and minerals fit within a
Genesis view, 2) the significance of fossils, and 3) how the global
flood explains geologic formations around the world.
About the Speaker:
Patrick Nurre was trained in the secular view of geology. Over
the past 40 years he has been actively involved in the
Creation/Evolution issue in the field of geology. He has spoken to
hundreds of college students, and is a popular speaker at many
conventions and homeschool conferences. In 2005, Patrick created
Northwest Treasures
to provide opportunities to study geology from a Biblical
perspective. In the fall of 2012, he opened the
Geology Learning
Center, a geology museum/educational center located in Mountlake
Terrace, WA. Patrick leads field trips each year to many geological
sites including his annual field trip to Yellowstone Park in August.

Post Flood Ice Age - Michael Oard on Origins
Michael Oard explains what conditions are required for an ice age, shows how the secular scientists dating of the ice age(s) are just bad guesses, and that they have no idea how an ice age could have taken place in their paradigm. But it does fit perfectly right after the worldwide flood in a biblical creationist view.

Defense for Accelerated Decay - Andrew Snelling, Ph.D
Part 1
One of the reasons so many Christians have come to accept an old Earth is they believe that science does not support a global Flood and a young Earth. Dr. Snelling is a geologist with an impressive resume having broad experience with the actual data and getting it published. In this interview we discuss several significant factors that confirm both the global Flood and a young Earth.

Dr. Snelling was a significant partner in the RATE project, which the findings were powerfully in favor of creation and the Flood. In this interview we primarily discuss findings related to helium in zircons and carbon in coal samples. On the web Dr. Snelling has been attacked fiercely, so I wanted to find out if he really had the data to support the Earth being young and the global Flood. Watch for your self to see how he did in this stirring encounter.
Director of Research, AiG-US
Andrew commenced in full-time creation ministry at the end of 1983, first working with the Creation Science Foundation of Australia until late 1998, including three years with Ken Ham before Ham moved to the USA. From 1983 to 1992 Snelling was still required to be a geological consultant to the Koongarra uranium project. He was involved in research projects with several CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Organization) scientists, and in major international collaborative research effort with ANSTO (Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization) and university scientists across Australia, and with scientists from the USA, Britain, Japan, Sweden and the International Atomic Energy Agency, to investigate the Koongarra uranium deposit as a natural analog of a nuclear waste disposal site. As a result of these research endeavors, Andrew was involved in writing numerous scientific reports, and scientific papers that were published in international science journals.
In late 1998 Andrew joined the Institute for Creation Research near San Diego, as a Professor of Geology. His responsibilities included teaching Master’s degree geology courses in ICR’s Graduate School, leading tours to the Grand Canyon, England, Yosemite, and Death Valley; and research and writing projects. Andrew was a principal investigator in the eight-year, ICR-led RATE (Radioisotopes and the Age of The Earth) research project to which he made major contributions in rock dating studies using radioisotopes, and in studies of radiation halos (radiohalos) and tracks (fission tracks) in various minerals. He contributed two chapters to the first RATE technical volume in 2000, and three chapters to the second RATE technical volume in 2005, as well as being the primary production editor of both volumes. Andrew’s time at ICR was also spent writing a major two-volume book on Earth’s Catastrophic Past: Geology, Creation, and the Flood (Dallas, TX: Institute for Creation Research, 2009).
In June 2007 Andrew’s employment began with Answers in Genesis as their Director of Research. He initially resided in Brisbane, Australia and commuted regularly as necessary to the USA. But in mid-2011 he moved with his wife to live in northern Kentucky (near Cincinnati, Ohio). As a result of joint research, he has contributed to and jointly edited (with Dr. Steven W. Boyd) the book Grappling with the Chronology of the Genesis Flood (Green Forest, AR: Master Books, 2013).
Andrew’s talents have enabled him to be involved in extensive creationist research in Australia, the USA, Britain, New Zealand and elsewhere, majoring on the radioactive methods for dating rocks and evidence for the Flood of Noah. Such research has included the formation of igneous and metamorphic rocks (for example, granites and schists, respectively), all types of mineral deposits, sedimentary strata, and landscape features (for example, Grand Canyon, USA, and Ayers Rock or Uluru, central Australia) within the biblical framework of earth history. Technical papers by Dr. Snelling on regional metamorphism and rock dating have won the prestigious “Technical Excellence Award” as best technical paper at the 1994 Third and 1998 Fourth International Conference on Creationism respectively. As well as writing regularly and extensively in many international creationist magazines, journals and publications, Andrew was founding editor in 1984 and served as editor for almost 15 years of the Creation Ex Nihilo Technical Journal (now Journal of Creation), and served as the Editor-in-Chief for the Sixth International Conference on Creationism.
Andrew has traveled around Australia, the USA, and widely overseas (Britain, New Zealand, South Africa, Korea, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China) speaking in schools, churches, colleges, public and university meetings, to both lay and technical audiences, on the overwhelming scientific evidence consistent with the biblical account of Creation and the Genesis Flood, based largely on his own research. Andrew’s research has demonstrated that a global flood about 4,300 years ago explains many rock layers and most fossil deposits found around the world. Building from that foundation, Dr. Snelling has made predictions as to what should be found if a catastrophic global flood actually happened (for example, the existence of extensive, fossil-bearing rock layers). Additionally, Andrew’s research has indicated that radioactive decay rates have not been consistent in the past, having been grossly accelerated, so the radioactive methods for dating rocks at millions and billions of years old are not reliable, and the rock evidence overall is consistent with a young earth. He is currently researching the radioisotope dating of meteorites.
Andrew was raised in a Christian family in Sydney, Australia, is married to wife Kym, and has three adult children and three grandchildren. Andrew’s interest in geology began very soon after his conversion to Christianity at nine years of age. His very firm conviction in the authority and veracity of the Scriptures brought him to the creation/evolution controversy early in his teens, so that by the commencement of university studies, Andrew already had a clear scriptural perspective on the literalness of Creation and Noah’s Flood, and an unmistakable call from the Lord for a life-long involvement in creationist ministry.

Evolutionists Date Rocks & Fossils with Circular Reasoning - Dr. Kent Hovind
Dr. Hovind shows clearly through writings and admissions by evolutionists that the millions of years dating of rocks and fossils is based on circular reasoning. Faulty radiometric dating came along long after the ages for the rock layers and index fossils were set.

Honors and Awards
At the Third International Conference on Creationism in Pittsburgh (1994), he was presented with the Technical Excellence Award for the best technical paper, a paper on evidence for regional metamorphism within the creationist timeframe.
At the Fourth International Conference on Creationism (1998), he gained the first three prizes for technical excellence: first prize for his studies on anomalous radiometric “dates” of recent lava flows from Mt Ngauruhoe volcano, New Zealand. The second and third prizes were for co-authored papers with John Woodmorappe on the cooling of granites, and Dr. Steve Austin on radiometric “dating” of a rock unit in the Grand Canyon respectively.
