If the world is truly billions of years old, we would expect to see this in the geologic record - the rocks, minerals and fossils. Secular geologists tell us emphatically that the earth is billions of years old, having been sculpted by slow and gradual geologic processes, punctuated by brief, local catastrophes. But is this view based on scientific facts or a philosophy framed by biases? Come take a journey with us as we unravel this history and discover just how accurately the Book of Genesis explains the geology of the earth. We will look at 1) how the rocks and minerals fit within a Genesis view, 2) the significance of fossils, and 3) how the global flood explains geologic formations around the world. 

About the Speaker:

Patrick Nurre was trained in the secular view of geology. Over the past 40 years he has been actively involved in the Creation/Evolution issue in the field of geology. He has spoken to hundreds of college students, and is a popular speaker at many conventions and homeschool conferences. In 2005, Patrick created Northwest Treasures to provide opportunities to study geology from a Biblical perspective. In the fall of 2012, he opened the Geology Learning Center, a geology museum/educational center located in Mountlake Terrace, WA. Patrick leads field trips each year to many geological sites including his annual field trip to Yellowstone Park in August.

Shaping Earth's Surface - Evidence for the Global Flood | Origins with Michael Oard

http://www.ctvn.org/the-programs/origins/ | A variety of evidences for the receding of the Floodwater off the continents will be provided. Geological evidence is first presented for differential vertical tectonics to drain the Floodwater. As the Floodwater first drains as wide currents, great erosion occurs with the formation of planation surfaces and the long transport of resistant rocks. As more and more land is exposed above the Floodwater, the water becomes more channelized forming another set of unique landforms. Water and wind gaps, pediments, and submarine canyons will be described. All these features are very difficult, if not impossible, to explain by the uniformitarian paradigm, providing strong evidence for the reality of the Genesis Flood.

Michael Oard became interested in creationism after reading Whitcomb and Morris's The Genesis Flood in the early 1970s. Having a focus on research, his interest grew to the point that he asked himself what he could contribute. That is when the idea of an Ice Age model started. The first paper on the Ice Age was published in 1979 in the Creation Research Society Quarterly. Since then dozens of articles and about six books have been published on the Ice Age. Research on the Ice Age ignited an interest in glaciology, geology and geophysics, which he has been ardently studying for over 35 years.

Michael has a B.S. and M.S. degree in atmospheric science from the University of Washington. He was a research meteorologist for 6 years at the University of Washington. In 2001, he retired as a lead forecaster with the National Weather Service in Great Falls, Montana. Since then he has been doing full time research in creationist earth science. Over the years, he has learned to speak to lay adults and children on a variety of subjects in the earth sciences.

Michael has published eight papers or technical monographs in the secular technical literature of the American Meteorological Association and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association. Since becoming a creationist, he has published about 200 articles in the creationist technical literature and has authored, coauthored, or been editor of fourteen published creationist books for different ages on the Flood, the Ice Age, weather, geology, and National park guides. He is on the board of the Creation Research Society.

This visually rich presentation (based primarily on Richard's own photographs) provides a 'virtual tour' of Grand Canyon based on his 5-day white-water rafting experience through the canyon in the mid-90's. The rocks and fossils provide evidence for rapid deposition of the sedimentary layers, and rapid erosion of the canyon. The earth's surface was dramatically changed during Noah's Flood. Grand Canyon provides evidence of this Flood.

Richard Fangrad

Richard has been speaking on the creation/evolution issue since 1994 and involved with a creation-oriented ministry in Canada since 1996. The Canadian office of Creation Ministries International began as a room in his home in late 1998. As a speaker, he is known for his easy-to-understand scientific presentations. He was driven to get involved with creation ministry primarily because of the influence that creation materials and resources had on his own faith and his walk with Christ.
Richard's professional training is in electronics. He has worked on advanced communication satellite systems at Com Dev, a world leader in this field. Shortly before working in creation ministry full-time in 1999, he worked at Raytheon Canada and was involved in the early testing phases of the first all-digital radar system. He is now CEO of CMI–Canada and co-host CMI’s TV show Creation Magazine Live!

The Record of the Rocks - Dr. Don Patton

Evolutionists tell us that the gradual development of life has been recorded in the record of the rocks, illustrated in textbooks by the geologic column. It is seldom revealed that this column is actually a mental abstraction constructed with evolutionary assumptions. The complete column is found only in textbooks, nowhere on the face of the earth. The column does illustrate evolutionary predictions and thus provides a means of testing the evolutionary model.

Dr. Patton has a broad educational background; four years at Florida College, Temple Terrace, FL (Bible); two years at Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, TN (Geology); two years at Indiana Univ./Purdue Univ., Indianapolis, IN (Geology); two years, Pacific School of Graduate Studies.

He has worked as Geologist in US, Canada, Australia, England, Mexico, Peru, bolvia, Cambodia, Israel, and Jordan. Dr. Patton has participated in dinosaur excavations in Colorado, Texas, Utah, Wyoming and Canada. He is credited with excavating the longest consecutive dinosaur trail in North America, totaling 157 tracks, extending over 500 feet. He is a member of the Geological Society of America and was a speaker at their 1997 annual convention. Dr. Patton lectures at universities accross the United States. He has conducted up to twelve Creation/Evolution Seminares a year for twenty five years. He has participated in numerous public debates on creation/evolution including radio and TV debates. He has testified three times before Texas State Textbook Committe, Austin, TX. Presently, Dr. Patton is consulting geologist & partner in Mazada Corporation, Dallas, TX. He is a staff geologist of the Creation Evidence Museum, Glen Rose, TX, staff geologist for the Qumran Plateau excavation in Israel, an area supervisor at the City of David excavation in Jerusalem and charman of the Metroplex Institute of Origon Science.
